Welcome

BLACK WORLD STUDIES deals with the integrity, continuity, and vitality of the international Black experience. Fostering an understanding of the historical and cultural dimensions of contemporary international Black world communities and societies is a worthwhile objective for liberal arts education.

To achieve these goals, the Black World Studies major is interdisciplinary in character. The interdisciplinary core is generated from a synthesis of approaches from political science, literature, sociology, anthropology, history, religion, art, psychology, and economics. Fieldwork and internships are encouraged. Foreign study opportunities exist in Africa and the Caribbean.

The Black World Studies office is located in Slocum Hall, Room 338.
